About Milky Way: Isn’t he just the sweetest?!!  His foster nicknamed him Wllbur, and he is a sweet, fun and all around great little boy!  He can be a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly.  He loves other dogs and does share his toys with his friends.  He prefers to eat alone though and will sometimes try to eat off of his friends’ plates (bowls), but understands when his friends don’t want to share.  He is a good listener when it comes to his humans, and he is quite smart when it comes to learning basic commands.  He is working on house training and making great progress, but still has a little work to do in that area.  He is an easy going and very happy boy!

Milky Way is a Benefactor Dog:  Benefactor dogs have higher adoption fees due to a combination of reasons: they may be a purebred dog, small sized dogs that are in high demand, younger age, etc. They are quickly adopted, even with their higher fees. Their adoption fees allow them to act as “benefactors” to other dogs in our care such as, senior medical cases we pull from local shelters to give them a chance at a new life, former breeding dogs in need of dentals and mass removals/biopsies, heartworm positive dogs, dogs with heart problems or broken bones.  Dog like Betty White who was tied outside of a shelter who is blind, deaf and in kidney failure, or Shadow who was a neglect case we took in recently.  We take in so many that require special medical care or procedures, and our benefactor dog program allows us to help more dogs that otherwise would not have a chance at life.

This allows us to get these other dogs the medical care they need, and gives them a better chance at adoption and a loving home.
